Between 30 and 31 July 2021 Youth Leading for Peace International Youth Forum, dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Confidence and the International Day for Action against Nuclear Tests, as well as the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 30th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site.

The aim of the forum was to involve young participants in an open and constructive dialogue on nuclear weapons and nuclear testing., to draw the attention of the younger generation to the existence of nuclear test sites in the world, as well as to strengthen the culture of peace and the understanding of the value of unity, harmony and mutual respect.

The first step was to make video presentations by each delegation outlining their country's official position on nuclear weapons and nuclear testing.. Delegations had to consider the position of their country in terms of four main areas: economic, enviromental, security and humanitarian. The Romanian delegation made the video presentation on "Clubs for UNESCO and Education for Peace".

At the opening of the International Forum "Youth Leading for Peace" they addressed a few words to young people, Bolat Akchulakov, President of the Asia-Pacific and Kazakhstan Federations of UNESCO Clubs and Associations, Aigul Halafova, acting director of the UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office și Davronzhon Gaipov, rector of Suleyman Demirel University.

The forum was structured in two parts, comprising an educational section in which participants were presented with new perspectives on nuclear weapons and nuclear testing by experts in the field, namely Chasnikov Alexey Ivanovich, independent researcher and member of the anti-nuclear movement “Nevada-Semipalatinsk”, Diana Kazabekova, researcher senior in Nuclear Security, founder of ProWomen in Nuclear Kazakhstan, WCAPS member, WINS, Women in Nuclear Global, YRA, Kristína Vnenčáková, coordinator of the International Peace Youth Group, from the Czech Republic, Tariq Rauf, member of the Atomic Reporter Board, former head of IAEA security policy oversight and coordination, fost membru al Eminent Persons Group for Substantive Progress on Nuclear Disarmament.

The application of the knowledge acquired after the theoretical session was made through constructive discussions based on an imaginary case that took place in 4 different committees: economic, environmental, humanitarian and military. The delegations were divided into one of the committees, where young people used their creativity and analytical spirit to identify possible strategies for the peaceful resolution of a nuclear conflict between 3 imaginary neighboring countries in terms of the specialization of each committee. The action plans developed by the delegations were improved and approved by the experts invited to the Forum before being presented to all participants in the last stage of the event..

Youth Leading for Peace International Youth Forum, a significant event in the education of young people through extremely well-documented presentations and debates focused on different areas in which delegations came up with new solutions, constructive, identifying peaceful uses of nuclear energy, stimulated the creative spirit of the participants in order to learn the importance of resolving any conflict peacefully and acting in accordance with moral values ​​through mutual respect.

WHAT IS ALUMNUS ?

Alumnus Club is an organization created in the year 2000, that gathers for more than a decade and a half members from 10 countries.
Alumnus Club is part of the Romanian federation of UNESCO Associations and Clubs, and implicitly of the World and European Federations for UNESCO. The club is formed mainly by young students, and its aim is to offer its members the opportunity to get involved in projects aimed at developing their experience in the selected field of study.
Through its UNESCO affiliation, the Alumnus Club has access to an important network of information regarding the activities developed in domains such as education, science, culture and communication.
The main purpose of the organization is that of training young people in a multicultural manner, through projects that aim at involving them in activities that encourage their personal initiative and experience gaining.
In 20 years of activity, Alumnus Club has offered its members and the participants in its events the occasion to engage in educational, scientific, cultural and communication projects.
Below, you may find a non exhaustive list of annual events: Metamorphoses, Youth and Museums, Art and Civilization in Monastic Spaces, Magellan and the new project developed under the auspices of the Alliance of Civilizations: Bucharest retrieved, the concerts of the National Chamber Choir Madrigal.

ALUMNUS Club was founded in 2000 and consists of young people across the 10 countries.
The Alumnus Club is part of the Romanian Federation of Associations and Clubs for UNESCO.
The club wants to offer its members opportunities to become involved in educational projects, Scientific, cultural and communication.
ALUMNUS Club aims to prepare young people in a multicultural spirit and to involve them in activities that help them in personal and professional development.
