Project Future Folk Continue.
Alumnus Club UNESCO, in collaboration with artist Carmen Emanuela Popa, organized the exhibition Futur Folk – Costume Royal (Future Traditions - royal costume) City Hall district 1 din Paris, during 2 – 10 October 2019.
The event was backed by the National Commissions for UNESCO of France and Romania, together with the municipalities of Paris and Bucharest.
exhibition, opened the day 2 October 2019, presented to the Parisian public 30 of conceptual fashion works signed by the Romanian designer Carmen Emanuela Popa, displayed on an installation by the artist Cristian Todie.
The central idea of the exhibition resumed the concept of the project Future Folk, made by Alumnus in 2018 and co-financed by AFCN, giving it an international dimension. In addition to the exhibits created in 2018, which reinterpreted the traditional costume specific to different cultures, the Paris exhibition included a selection inspired by French royal costume of the eighteenth century, in a stylistic parallelism with the graphic symbolism found in the Romanian folk costumes and of the national minorities from our country.
The visual tandem proposed by the designer Carmen Emanuela Popa, homogenizing the two worlds, France and Romania, it was appreciated as a stylistic explosion based on new techniques of contemporary art. Cooperation with UNESCO has highlighted one of the favorite themes of this world forum - promoting women's rights and equal opportunities in today's world..
