The City of Carrara, in collaboration with the Club for UNESCO “Carrara dei Marmi” organized the 5th edition of the Competition: International Forum of young marble sculptors in Carrara. Art voices: peace, fraternity, solidarity.
Iulian Cristea, the candidate proposed by Alumnus Club for UNESCO, was one of the five finalists who have the chance to take part in a training session that lasts from 2-20 September, 2019, in Carrara. During the 3 weeks of training, he will develop some sculptural techniques through attending artistic workshops.
The Alumnus Club for UNESCO’s candidate created a piece of art, entitled “Regaining Peace in a World of Chaos”. His piece of art reflects the coexistence between order and chaos. Peace is an omnipresent element, but in a world of chaos, peace must be rediscovered and regained.
Iulian Cristea explains his work as follows: ,,My attempt to exploit the contemporary artistic current is the obvious visual contrast between the organic and the strictly geometric forms, exploring a side of the contemporaneity in which no rules are accepted. I create sculptures, installations and drawings, anatomical structures on geometric trunks, presented in a diffuse group of cells and nerve fibers that form often strange organic objects.”
