Romanian National Commission for UNESCO, Alumnus Club, Museum of Viticulture and Tree empty and Arges County Council held during 3 July – 7 July 2019 The 11th edition of the International Youth and Museums, project carried out under the patronage of the European and Romanian Federations of Associations, Centres and Clubs for UNESCO.

This year's theme of the conference was:

How can the school be a partner in cultural education

As every year, there was a communication session on the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage.

At the same time, they celebrated 80 years since the founding of the Museum of Viticulture and Pomiculture Golești.

DAY 1 – 3 July 2019

On the first day, a tour of Bucharest was organized. The Chinese delegation was able to admire the main objectives of the capital, tour including stops at:

Central University Library

Revolution Square

National Museum of Atră of Romania

Church of St. Spiridon the Elder

Palace of Parliament

Elite Art Galery, where young people got acquainted with two of the most important projects of the Elite Art Club for UNESCO:

  • Festival Classics for Pleasure and
  • International Conducting Competition Jeunesses Musicales Bucharest both international concepts implemented by the association in Romania for almost a decade.

The day ended with a study visit to Romanian National Commission for UNESCO, where the delegation was received by the Secretary-General, Mr. Ani Matei. Here the young Chinese got in touch with some of the activities of the Romanian Commission.

The film was shown "Your country, Your tradition ”, project whose main objective is promotion among students, teachers and parents of those 15 Romania's cultural objectives inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage.

Secretary-General Ani Matei handed over to the head of the UNESCO delegation, Ms. Melody Yang a plaque dedicated to the anniversary of 60 years since the founding of CNR UNESCO.

DAY 2 – 4 July 2019

This day was dedicated to visiting the former capital of Wallachia, the city of Curtea de Argeș.

The first stop was at Arges Monastery where participants had the opportunity to learn details about the most important place of pilgrimage and prayer in Argeș County. Founded during the reign of Neagoe Basarab, between 1512 – 1517, monastery is part of the famous Romanian legend: "The Legend of Master Manole".

The young people found out that this episcopal church is also the necropolis of the royal family of Romania, kings Ferdinand and Carol I were buried here, as well as their wives Queens Elizabeth and Mary.

The next stop was at the New Archbishopric and Royal Cathedral of Curtea de Argeş, place of worship where the tombs of King Michael and Queen Anne are located.

The visit continued at Royal church built by Basarab I (1310 – 1352), church which is one of the most representative monuments of medieval Romanian architecture, it being the oldest voivodship foundation in Wallachia.

After lunch followed "Vlaicu Voda" National College from the locality, educational institution with tradition, established at the end of the First World War and which this year fulfilled 100 years of. There was a tour of the school and they visited:

Although you are on vacation, a large number of high school students greeted our delegation.

A series of educational projects were presented – completed or that the college has in progress in collaboration with other educational institutions in Europe, projects carried out through bilateral exchanges, guests receiving handmade ceramic souvenirs from the young little gas.

Discussions followed between young people who shared their experiences gained during the cultural-educational projects in which they took part in the school..

The visit ended with a beautiful group photo taken in the courtyard of the college.

DAY 3 – 5 July 2019

Activities from the third day of the project, 5 July 2019, took place at the Museum of Viticulture and Fruit Growing Golești, where the opening ceremony of the international conference took place in the morning.

The event was attended by students of Zinca National High School Golescu from Pitesti, the delegation of young students of the Sino-Canada Colleges in Beijing, Hefei and Shenzen, China, representatives from Italy, Canada and Israel. Representatives of the Romanian Ministry of Culture and National Identity were present at the conference among the authorities., representatives of local authorities, but also representatives of cultural and museum institutions in Romania.

Iustin Dejanu spoke at the opening, Manager, Museum of Viticulture and fruit Goleşti; Daniela Popescu, Chairman – European Federation of Associations and Clubs for UNESCO, president of the Alumnus Club for UNESCO; and Manu, The president of the Argeş County Council; Mihai Gorgoi - Adviser to the Ministry of Culture and National Identity; Ioan Opriş - Professor of the Doctoral School of Wallachian History, Targoviste; Sebastian Pârlac - President of the Romanian-Chinese House, Pitesti.

The artistic moment presented by the children participating in the dance camp "Romanian Games at the Village Choir" organized by the Golești Museum followed, coordinated by instructor Corina Voicilă.

A unique moment was presented by the young people of the Sino-Canada Colleges and the International School of China, which through the short program made those present to admire some details of Chinese culture: calligraphy

Communication sessions followed: – The first section of the conference moderated by Mrs. Daniela Popescu Culture and leisure for young people in museums - an invitation to reconciliation between generations. Heritage and youth - intercultural museum programs. How can school be a partner in cultural education " took place in Golești Park.

Simultaneously, the other two sections took place: – 80 years since the founding of the Golești Museum – pages of Romanian history and ethnography moderated by prof. univ. dr. Ioan Opriş organized in the Golescu Family Mansion – Conservation and restoration of mobile cultural heritage moderated by Olimpia Coman Sipeanu and Leonard Ionescu organized in the building reserved for the history of the Golescu family. After the lunch break, a guided tour of the Golești Museum of Viticulture and Fruit Growing took place..

and the opening of the exhibition The world in colors. Barks from the patrimony of the Goleşti Museum. A ceramic painting workshop followed where each participant made a painting, the works will be part of an exhibition organized by the Golești Museum in the near future.

The day ended with a festive dinner in which foreign guests learned and danced with Romanian participants some Romanian folk dances, in another workshop prepared by the Romanian side.

DAY 4 – 6 July 2019

This day was reserved for organizing a working visit to Craiova: – Art Museum, which is located in a special building, built in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, transformed into a museum in 1954 - Constantin Mihai Palace and which presents to the public a precious collection of universal paintings (Dutch school, FLEMISH, French, italiană) and Romanian – works by Constantin Lecca, Theodor Aman, Stefan Luchian, Nicolae Tonitza, Nicolae Grigorescu as well as seven sculptures by the great Constantin Brâncuși.

Băniei's house, monument of medieval architecture and the oldest civil construction in Craiova that houses the ethnography section of the Oltenieie Museum that offers the public specialized information, bibliographies on the models and values ​​of traditional culture and arts;

DAY 5 – 7 July 2019

The day began with the closing ceremony of the conference in which the diplomas were awarded.

WHAT IS ALUMNUS ?

Alumnus Club is an organization created in the year 2000, that gathers for more than a decade and a half members from 10 countries.
Alumnus Club is part of the Romanian federation of UNESCO Associations and Clubs, and implicitly of the World and European Federations for UNESCO. The club is formed mainly by young students, and its aim is to offer its members the opportunity to get involved in projects aimed at developing their experience in the selected field of study.
Through its UNESCO affiliation, the Alumnus Club has access to an important network of information regarding the activities developed in domains such as education, science, culture and communication.
The main purpose of the organization is that of training young people in a multicultural manner, through projects that aim at involving them in activities that encourage their personal initiative and experience gaining.
In 20 years of activity, Alumnus Club has offered its members and the participants in its events the occasion to engage in educational, scientific, cultural and communication projects.
Below, you may find a non exhaustive list of annual events: Metamorphoses, Youth and Museums, Art and Civilization in Monastic Spaces, Magellan and the new project developed under the auspices of the Alliance of Civilizations: Bucharest retrieved, the concerts of the National Chamber Choir Madrigal.

ALUMNUS Club was founded in 2000 and consists of young people across the 10 countries.
The Alumnus Club is part of the Romanian Federation of Associations and Clubs for UNESCO.
The club wants to offer its members opportunities to become involved in educational projects, Scientific, cultural and communication.
ALUMNUS Club aims to prepare young people in a multicultural spirit and to involve them in activities that help them in personal and professional development.
