UNESCO Heritage Legacy for the Future

 

Between 20-25 June 2019, Romanian National Commission for UNESCO, European Federation of Associations, Centres and Clubs for UNESCO, Alumnus Club for UNESCO, Cygnus Center for UNESCO Suceava, in partnership with the City of Karavas Cyprus and Bucovina Museum, organized in Suceava the 11th edition of the project Metamorphosis. Entitled UNESCO Heritage Legacy for the Future, the project aimed at developing intercultural dialogue by knowing and capitalizing on the material and intangible cultural heritage, in terms of its diversity.

Among the important guests we mention: Nicos Hadjistephanou, Mayor of Karavas Cyprus; Francis Pang, founder of Beijing Concord College of Sino-Canada; Daniela Popescu, expert CNR UNESCO, președinte FEACU, President Alumnus Club UNESCO; And Milici, Cygnus director of the Center for UNESCO Suceava.

An exhibition of handmade lace was organized within the project, Cypriot national heritage objects. The opening of the exhibition took place on 21 June, Bucovina Village Museum.

On the same day, the official meeting with the mayor of Suceava was also organized, Mr. Ion Lungu.

By participating Mr Pang, two working visits were also organized to Stefan cel Mare University, Suceava and National College Petru Rares. Starting with 22 June, the following days were dedicated to visiting the Romanian objectives included in the UNESCO world heritage.

The project, organizers seek to encourage public from Romania to discover and understand the value of property in Cyprus, still well preserved heritage, valuable, but little known. At the same time, are to encourage UNESCO World Heritage in Romania, an extremely rich heritage, which is beneficial for Romania in the international landscape.

UNESCO Heritage Legacy for the Future

 

Between 20th and 25th of June 2019, the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO, European Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations, Alumnus Club for UNESCO, Cygnus Center for UNESCO Suceava, in partnership with the City Hall of Karavas, Cyprus and Bucovina Museum, are organizing the 11th edition of the project Metamorphosis. Entitled UNESCO Heritage Legacy for the Future, the project seeks to develop the intercultural dialogue through the knowledge and valorification of the material and immaterial cultural heritage, with all its diversity.

Among the important guests there are: Nicos Hadjistephanou, the mayor of Karavas – Cyprus; Francis Pang, the founder of the Beijing Concord College of Sino-Canada; Daniela Popescu, expert of National Commission of Romania for UNESCO and president of EFUCA; And Milici, director of Cygnus Center for UNESCO Suceava.

An exhibition of traditional embroidery will be organized, the materials exposed being objects of the Cypriot national heritage. The vernissage of the exhibition will take place on 21st of June, 16.00, at the Bucovina Village Museum. In the same day, it will be organized the official meeting with the mayor or Suceava, Mr. Ion Lungu. On the occasion of Mr. Pang’s participation there are going to be organized two work visits at Stephen the Great University of Suceava and at the National College Petru Rares. Starting with 22nd of June, the following days are dedicated to visiting the Romanian objectives included in the UNESCO world heritage.

Through this project, the organizers seek to encourage the Romanian public to discover and understand the value of the Cypriot heritage, a heritage well preserved, but not widely known. At the same time, the organizers want to promote the world heritage of UNESCO from Romania, a very rich legacy, that represents an asset for Romania at international level.

WHAT IS ALUMNUS ?

Alumnus Club is an organization created in the year 2000, that gathers for more than a decade and a half members from 10 countries.
Alumnus Club is part of the Romanian federation of UNESCO Associations and Clubs, and implicitly of the World and European Federations for UNESCO. The club is formed mainly by young students, and its aim is to offer its members the opportunity to get involved in projects aimed at developing their experience in the selected field of study.
Through its UNESCO affiliation, the Alumnus Club has access to an important network of information regarding the activities developed in domains such as education, science, culture and communication.
The main purpose of the organization is that of training young people in a multicultural manner, through projects that aim at involving them in activities that encourage their personal initiative and experience gaining.
In 20 years of activity, Alumnus Club has offered its members and the participants in its events the occasion to engage in educational, scientific, cultural and communication projects.
Below, you may find a non exhaustive list of annual events: Metamorphoses, Youth and Museums, Art and Civilization in Monastic Spaces, Magellan and the new project developed under the auspices of the Alliance of Civilizations: Bucharest retrieved, the concerts of the National Chamber Choir Madrigal.

ALUMNUS Club was founded in 2000 and consists of young people across the 10 countries.
The Alumnus Club is part of the Romanian Federation of Associations and Clubs for UNESCO.
The club wants to offer its members opportunities to become involved in educational projects, Scientific, cultural and communication.
ALUMNUS Club aims to prepare young people in a multicultural spirit and to involve them in activities that help them in personal and professional development.
