Future Folk CHINA Meets ROMANIA is an international project that progressively develops the FUTURE FOLK project launched in 2018 Organization initiative Alumnus Club UNESCO, in collaboration with artist Carmen Emanuela Popa, supported by the Department for Interethnic Relations of the Romanian Government. From the beginning, the project wanted a new vision on the interpretation of the traditional folk costume of the minorities, thus bringing into question the revival of the immaterial cultural heritage in Romania. The clothing pieces signed by the artist are based on sources of inspiration from the aesthetic values of the Romanian folk costume and of the minorities. The avant-garde spirit is noticeable in each of the works, Symbolically strong elements are interspersed and / or paradoxically distributed on painted or bare surfaces, using pictorial and graphic techniques with an embossed appearance, elements of originality that define the entire collection.

exhibition Future Folk-CHINA Meets ROMANIA is an installation that focuses on the stylistic parallelism between the traditional clothing cultural values of the minorities between Romania and China, through a visual tandem in real plan, on the one hand graphic elements, of shape and line representative of the two cultures and, on the other hand, a rhetorical passage of to the Clothing Object to the Contemporary Art Object through construction and deconstruction, increasing volumes, symphony of symbols and colors. The result: the reinterpreted costume of the Romanian minorities versus the traditional Chinese costume. It's an ingenuity stage of the FUTURE FOLK project moving forward. A series of painting and mixed media works on canvas will be constructed in real time within the installation, which will amplify the value of the project theme, thus graphic elements of Romanian but also Chinese inspiration will create a emotional field in the international cultural context of contemporary art.

We propose that the Romanian Cultural Institute in Beijing host this extensive exhibition event in the official Gallery of the institution, located in the famous architectural ensemble with a unique futuristic imprint, designed by Zaha Hadid in China, thus becomes an important partner for the promotion of Romanian cultural values in the world, through its mission of intercultural cooperation.

Alumnus Club For UNESCO aims to, by exposing this project, to support creativity and its value in the evolutionary plan of society as one of the most important constants of spiritual and human development in contemporaneity.

The entire project is dedicated to the celebration of 70 of years of Romanian-Chinese diplomatic relations in the year 2019.

Artist Carmen Emanuela Popa continues her artistic credo, that of propagating through art the poetic metaphors of this world that can be perpetuated in an infinity of forms, based on pacifism and innocence, two attributes that make up the profile future folk a human model full of hope and enthusiasm, in accordance with man's joy of having a homeland, a mother and above all a universal beauty that she can only sing.

He is a PhD student in visual arts / design within the framework of the National University of Arts, Bucharest, institution that offered him in 2018 a scholarship at the prestigious IUAV University in Venice, Italy.
